A stream is not a pond with a current. It moves sediment, cuts banks, floods and rebuilds itself, and the useful question is rarely “how do we stop it” but “is it working the way a stream should.” That is what a Proper Functioning Condition assessment answers, and it is usually where we start.
From there the work ranges from low-tech, process-based restoration that lets the channel heal itself to targeted bank stabilization where a structure or a property line genuinely is at risk. We would rather spend your money on the root cause than on repeating the same repair every spring.
